Real Estate Tips for Active Military and Veterans
If you are a Purple
Heart recipient or you know someone who is, please consider this info. Starting
January 1, 2020, as part of the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, Purple
Heart recipients will be exempt from paying the funding fee the Department of
Veteran Affairs charges on its guaranteed home loans. That could be a savings
of thousands of dollars! Learn more here.
Do your 2020 plans
include purchasing a new home? H.R. 299, signed into law in June 2019,
affects VA home loans guaranteed on or after January 1, 2020. The biggest changes in the law are twofold: the loan limits will be
raised for VA home loans, and rates will temporarily increase for certain
loans by 0.15-.0.30%. For more information about how this might impact you, ask
me! I am an MRP certified REALTOR®.
If you are
considering a VA Home Loan, there are some specific benefits you may not be
aware of.
There are six unbeatable benefits of using a VA home loan for your next
home purchase. From no down payments to less stringent credit requirements,

If you are
considering buying a home and have not purchased a home in a long time (or
ever) here’s information on how mortgage rates can affect your financial
future. Take some time to read this
article to learn how to find the best mortgage rate to make a positive impact on your
peace of mind and financial future.
There’s also a
recent podcast that talks about VA home loans that you may find helpful. Are
you interested in learning more about VA home loans and why they should be a
type of loan to consider when buying a home? Then, look no further than
the U.S. Army Soldier for Life’s recent 20-minute podcast covering the
‘why’s and ‘how’s of VA home loans with David Piatek, National Guardsman and
Vice President, Federal Savings Bank (NMLS 673568).
There’s also a new
program for military spouses. Most
military service members go through the Transition Assistance Program (TAP)
when they’re transitioning out of the military, however, often military
spouses are on their own when it comes to finding more information on how to
deal with all the changes that will come for their spouse and their family.
To help military spouses through every part of their military life journey,
the Pentagon has recently rolled out the Military Spouse Transition Program
(MySTeP) through its
OneSource platform. MySTeP is comprised of 3 steps: one for
new-to-the-military-life spouses, one for those familiar with military life,
and ones for those whose spouses are about to transition back to civilian
life.
For information on
any of the above programs, I’m happy to help! Please call me at 610-372-0212
or 610-413-0520.
